Earth Guardians Adventure Days (EGADS) Day Camp
The Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary is pleased to announce an entirely new summer nature camp program for children throughout the Northland! We're expanding our camps to include week-long camps which will provide even more opportunities for fun, hands-on and engaging adventures in the natural world in a safe and nurturing environment.

Here is what you'll get when you sign your child up for our EGADS camps:
• Nature-focused camps that include age-appropriate outdoor explorations, games, crafts, and songs, all designed with fun and learning in mind.
• Member's only discounts for each camp as well as multiple camp discount.
• Camps led by professional staff and trained counselors that are First Aid and CPR trained.

Discoverers - Ages 3-4
Start your youngest on a lifelong love of nature with these age-appropriate games, crafts, stories and explorations! Sessions are 8:30 a.m. - Noon Monday through Thursday; each session is limited to 12 children; children must be completely potty trained to attend; mid-morning snack is provided; please have your child dress in clothes that can get dirty.
Cost: $80 members/ $125 non-members

Knee High To Nature - June 8-11
Step into a world where a "kid's-eye-view" is the best one! Your child will investigate the natural world as we spend the week enjoying its countless wonders. (Will not get wet.)

Buzz, Hop & Fly! - June 22-25
Insects buzz, rabbits hop, birds fly and kids frolic during this week of outdoor fun and high-energy exploration. (Will be slightly wet.)


Mini 'N'ature - July 6-9
We'll jump right into the land of mini "monsters," discovering those miniature critters that we don't always notice but are some of the coolest animals around. (Will not get wet.)


Drip, Drip, Drop! - July 20-23
That's what your child's shoes will be doing as they dry off each day during this week of watery fun discovering the wet places of the Sanctuary. (Will be soaked!)

Explorers - Entering Kindergarten
If your youngsters are ready for adventure, then these camps are just for them! Sessions are 8:30 a.m. - Noon, Monday through Thursday; each session is limited to 14 children; mid-morning snack is provided; children must be completely potty trained to attend.
Cost: $80 members/$125 non-members

Wish Upon A Frog - June 15-18
Slip into a world full of magical creatures from fairy tales and the real world. Outdoors and in, your child will experience many fantastic ways to learn about nature. (Will be moderately wet.)

Insectigations! - July 13-16
Grab a net and join in this week of insect - enhanced fun, games, and exploration. (Will be slightly wet.)


Seekers - Entering 1st or 2nd Grade
Have your child join us for fun and exploration as we discover the wonders of nature. Sessions are from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday; each session is limited to 16 children; campers must bring a sack lunch and drink; a snack will be provided.
Cost: $120 members $165 non-members

Fun in the Sun - June 8-11
Picnic in the woods and party in the prairie during this week of outdoor adventures all over the Sanctuary. (Will be moderately wet.)

Nature Crazed - June 15-18
Your child will "flip" over this week of fun-filled nature-exploration. Leaving no stone unturned, no game unplayed, no nature moment un-taught will give your child the best week of his/her summer. (Will not get wet.)


Slippery, Slimy, Super-Splashers? - July 6-9 and July 27-30
"Dive" into the world of water as we look for frogs, turtles, fish, and more animals that love their watery homes as much as kids love to play in them. (Will be soaked!)

Trackers - Entering 3rd or 4th Grade
Nature lovers will go "wild" for these hands-on days of exploration, investigation and fun! Sessions are from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday; each session is limited to 16 children; campers must bring a sack lunch and drink.
Cost: $120 members/ $165 non-members

Wonders of Wetlands - June 22-25
Splash into this week of super-wet discovery in the creek and pond, and learn about the cool critters, like turtles as big as pizzas and tiny but mighty insects, that live there. (Will be soaked!)

Mad Scientists - July 20-23
"It's alive! It's alive!" Of course it is, if it lives at the Nature Sanctuary! Learn the science behind animal adaptations as you create crazy concoctions, and dubious-looking snacks, and perform miraculous experiments. (Will be slightly wet.)

Adventures - Entering 5th or 6th Grade
This session is for older campers and will provide opportunities to explore the natural world. Sessions are from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday; each session is limited to 16 children; campers must bring a sack lunch and drink.
Cost: $120 members/ $165 non-members

Working With Wildlife - July 27-30
Get a crash course in handling and caring for a variety of education animals, and explore the Sanctuary as we search for the wildlife that call MLTNS home. (Will be slightly wet.)

Jr. Naturalist - Entering 7th through 9th Grade
This session is for our oldest campers and will provide opportunities to experience what it is like to be a Naturalist. Session is 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday, July 13 and Tuesday, July 14; over-night stay from 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15 to 12 p.m. Thursday, July 16; campers must bring a sack lunch and drink during daily sessions; a snack will be provided during over-night stay; session is limited to 16 children.
Cost: $120 members/ $165 non-members

Jr. Naturalist Camp - July 13-16
Learn the ins and outs of a Naturalist's world. We'll explore the various animal groups and habitats found at the Sanctuary and work hands-on to help improve our wildlife habitat. As a special treat, we'll conclude our week of camp with an over-night stay on July 15th which will include a night hike on the Sanctuary's trails and a look at the stars through our high-powered telescopes. (Will be moderately wet.)

Creekin' Kids - Entering 1st through 6th Grade
Here is a chance for your child to join us for a half-day adventure exploring beautiful Rush Creek. Sessions are from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.; each session is limited to 20 children; campers must bring a sack lunch and drink. Campers must bring towel, change of clothes and extra shoes. Note: Due to program demand, each child is allowed to attend one day only.
Dates: August 4, 6 & 7
Cost: $25 members/ $40 non-members
Camp T-shirts: $10 each


Family Night Out
Bring your sleeping bags and camp inside the nature center! Experience the Nature Sanctuary at night with hiking, astronomy, and owl prowling. Wake up to a breakfast with the birds! Evening snack and breakfast will be provided. Ages recommended 6 and up. All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Camp is limited to 20 people.
Dates: August 14-15, 7 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday
Cost: $25 members/ $40 non-members
Camp T-shirts: $10 each


Family Summer Programs

Family Fossil Fun - June 20
Learn to find and identify fossils of Missouri. Everyone will be able to take home a fossil they make! Sessions are from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This program involves getting into the water. Ages recommended 6 and up; closed-toed shoes are required; this program is limited to 30 people.
Cost per family: $15 members / $25 non-members

Creekin' Families! - July 18
Discover first-hand the amount of life found underneath the surface of Rush Creek! Sessions are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. This program involves getting into the water. Ages recommended 6 and up; closed-toed shoes are required; this program is limited to 30 people.
Cost per family: $15 members / $25 non-members


About Our EGADS Camp Staff
Our camps are taught by a combination of our full-time, part-time, and seasonal Naturalists and trained volunteers. All camp staff receive a week of intense training and come to us with experience working with children in similar settings. All of our summer staff are enthusiastic, energetic and are committed to providing your children with high quality, positive experiences in a safe and nurturing environment.

Registration Information

Enrollment Begins:
• MLTNS Members: Begins March 3, 2009
• Open Enrollment: Begins April 7, 2009

3 Easy Ways to Register: Complete the
Registration Form and
• Call 816-781-8598 and use your credit card.
• Pay at the Nature Center.
• Mail the registration form(s) with check or money order, or credit card information payable to MLTNS to: Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary,407 N. Lafrenz Road, Liberty, MO 64068.

A confirmation of your child(ren)'s registration will be sent upon receipt of payment. You will be contacted by phone is the program is full or if the camp session is cancelled. For more information or to check on the status of a particular camp, please call 816-781-8598.

Cancellation Policy: If you must cancel your camp registration, 80% of the camp fee will be refunded if you provide notice 30 days in advance of the camp start date. Camp fees will not be refunded if cancellation notice is given less than 30 days prior to the camp start date.

In the event the Sanctuary must cancel a camp session, you will receive a full refund and cancellation notice at least 5 days in advance of the camp start date.

Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary Membership:

Membership at the Nature Sanctuary will provide you with a significant discount when enrolling your child in our camp program.

Your membership will, besides providing a discount for camps, also provide discounts on other Sanctuary programs, a 10% discount in our gift shop, and our bimonthly newsletter mailed to your home.
